Great write-up Ian!
Wish we had the time to help out this year, would love to go and experience it for ourselves. Have to stick with the raptor counting for now.

Not easy to identify the young ones, but would be very interesting to know whether the number of juvi's still holds strong, as this will be the clear indicator for whether the breeding sites are intact.
I can't help but think every time I see a logging truck go by with a massive trunk, that there goes another Hornbill nest.

Hope the data will provide the wake-up call needed to get the whole forest complex declared a national park.

Great write-up Ian. You brought a smile to my face as I read through your experience and saw a pic of Roslan doing what he does best...um...er...the all important role of Keeper of the boat! Nothing beats just BEING there, right? Meeting people, gaining experiences and being with the brilliant birds. TQ for sharing.
And BTW it wasn't me,in August, who started the 'Field Centre Bungalow' to have a tilt like the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Enjoyed it. I guess I am bit bias as I am mentioned a few times. But honestly, it is a well written piece. Will see about the PpHb photo. They didn't turn out as nice as I hoped.Give me some time. KC not around and I have exam scripts to mark.
