The application deadline for the Sun Bear Centre Arkitrek Camp is on 31st March and for the Tembok Design Charette is on 5th April. We are monitoring the international response to the Covid-19 outbreak and will take this into account when deciding whether to go ahead with these programmes at the application deadlines.

The UK FCO does not currently have any travel advisory against travel to Malaysia due to Covid-19. If you are travelling from a country other than the UK, please check government travel advice in your country of origin. Coming into Malaysia you may be subject to health screening, such as temperature checks.

Notwithstanding official travel advisories, we are concerned with the health of our Arkitrekkers and the communities that will host them, and are updating our risk assessment and crisis management plans accordingly. Arkitrekkers may also be concerned for their health and the health of others when making travel plans and should inform themselves of the risks and options for mitigating risk, including the option not to travel. If you have paid a deposit for an Arkitrek Camp and decide not to travel due to Covid-19 we will refund your deposit in full. Useful advice for travellers can be found on the travel health pro website (see sidebar).

It is a pre-requisite of all Arkitrekkers to carry their own private travel insurance and we expect a tightening of insurance cover at this time. If we go ahead with the Camps as planned we would urge that Arkitrekkers take extra care when choosing travel insurance, particularly the policy section labelled ‘Cancellation/Curtailment Cover’ or similar. You should ensure that one of the perils insured against is the FCO advising against all, or all but essential, travel to a region.

Please keep yourself updated. We will do the same. Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.
